Did you know that Halifax Search and Rescue (HSAR) is 100% volunteer? Everyone on the team is on call 24/7/365. All members provide their own gear and transport themselves to searches when called upon. Hundreds of volunteer hours are put into searching, emergency evacuations, homeless checks, logistics, mapping, boating, drone mapping, K9 training, event planning, IT, grant writing, woods training, monthly and weekly meetings, fundraising, and public education every month.

We are a registered charity that receives limited provincial and city grants each year to support our operations. We are a100% non-profit and volunteer organization and rely heavily on fundraising for our expenses.

Expenses can include maintenance and purchase of specialized equipment, vehicles, training, and safety gear. These are all needed to help us reunite lost persons with their families.
